My first week into beauty school I volunteered for an event called Sergio Alain Barrios for the American Friends of the Phelophepa Train (AFPT) annual gala awards dinner on November 30, 2015, at Guastavino’s. It was an amazing event that I had the privilege to assist working and learning to do makeup under the expert guidance of Pascale Poma @paspoma
The Phelophepa Trains, known as the “Train of Hope” (by those it serves) are health care clinics aboard two state-of-the-art trains that travel to remote areas of South Africa delivering primary healthcare and education to towns and schools that have very limited access to basic medical care. It benefits from worldwide partnerships and donations and has treated over 23 million youth and adults over the last 21 years.
